Razzamataz Theatre Schools continues to expand

Post-pandemic, there has been a recognisable change in the way people want to work and live. Many are shunning the traditional 9-5 for a role that allows them more autonomy over their lives. Working from home, choosing their own hours and general flexibility are becoming non-negotiables, which is why the interest in launching a Razzamataz Theatre School franchise has never been stronger.

The new Razzamataz Principles

Meet our new Principals

The Dragons’ Den backed business has four new franchisees coming on board and will be launching in September. Emily Nachshon, franchisee of Razzamataz Medway, Amber Jones, franchisee of Razzamataz Bournemouth, Luke Disley, franchisee of Razzamataz Wimbledon, Rebecca Scott, franchisee of Razzamataz Durham and Amber Gibney, franchisee of Razzamataz Stockton-on-Tees.

They have all completed the intensive week-long training sessions where they have covered every element of running a theatre school from PR and Marketing to staff recruitment and child safety.

“We are delighted to welcome all the new franchisees and continue to expand the Razzamataz network,” says MD and Founder of Razzamataz Denise Hutton-Gosney. “Amber, Emily, Rebecca and Amber have all been teachers at Razzamataz so we are excited to help them progress their careers even further. With our training, support and mentoring, all four are able to run their business to suit their lifestyles because Razzamataz offers a flexible way of working.”

How to run a theatre school

Razzamataz Theatre Schools is a multi-award-winning network and has allowed people from a range of backgrounds the opportunity to run their own theatre school. There’s much more to running a school than first appears, but with more than 22 years of experience, there’s very little that the Head Office has not seen.

“After training, new Principals are always so surprised by just how thorough the sessions are and can feel a little overwhelmed, which is why we ensure each franchisee has a dedicated support manager who checks in with them regularly,” adds Denise. “By being part of an experienced network with a recognised brand name, franchisees can feel reassured that we are going to cover everything that they need to know, which is vital in the children’s activity sector.”

Tips for would-be business owners

1/ “Book a Discovery Den as your first step to understanding more about franchising. It just felt like the sensible option to have a big brand name behind me,” Luke Disley, franchisee of Razzamataz Wimbledon.

2/ “Find a role that is flexible. I work for a few hours while my youngest is at nursery and then I can get back to stuff in the evening when they are in bed. I really want to be able to enjoy the children while they are young and Razzamataz gives you that flexibility,” Emily Nachshon, franchisee of Razzamataz Medway.

3/ “Listen to your gut and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Razzamataz have really helped me transition from teacher to business owner and they encourage us to ask lots of questions,” Amber Jones, franchisee of Razzamataz Bournemouth.

4/ “Think about what you want for your future. Although everything feels daunting in the beginning, I can imagine in six months’ time I can sit back and think why was I worrying. I look at the other franchisees in the Razzamataz network and believe that there’s no reason why I can’t be just as successful,” Amber Gibney, franchisee of Razzamataz Stockton-on-Tees.

5/ “When I first started out at Razzamataz as a teacher, I didn’t realise what a large, established network this was. If you are buying into a brand, it must align with your own beliefs and there should be plenty of opportunities that you can tap into to help build your business,” Rebecca Scott, franchisee of Razzamataz Durham.
