Franchise Conference sets the standards for the future of performing arts education

A highly successful theatre school business welcomed franchisees to the annual Conference and Awards celebration to the beautiful Lake District with the motivation to ignite the blaze of brilliance in more young people.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools is celebrating 24 years in business and every year holds an exceptional Conference to motivate franchisees to provide the very best theatre arts training. This year, the focus was to go on a journey of creativity and self-discovery to imagine each individual’s potential. A team of experts were invited to the Conference to help franchisees plan for their future, while helping young people in their community start their own inspiring journey through the arts.

Day One: The Challenge

Setting intentions and overcoming self-limiting beliefs was the focus for the first day of the event. Supporting franchisees with their physical and mental health, is a commitment that Razzamataz as the franchisor takes seriously. Kay Lou Haskins led a group of Principals through a breathwork and cold water therapy session to create positive changes in the mind and body.

Day One: Welcome Drinks

Why be part of a franchise? One of the significant benefits is the access to a network of like-minded individuals who can support you on your business journey. The opportunity to catch up with other franchisees in the network is highly beneficial, building business bonds and cementing friendships. In the words of Michael French, franchisee of Razzamataz Barnet: “We saw, we shared, we danced and we got inspired for another year of successes and growth.”

Day two: Conference

Having spent 12 years as a multi-award-winning franchisee for Razzamataz Medway, Hayley Limpkin is ideally placed to be the host. Passionate about creating culture and supporting individuals to reach their goals, Hayley expertly guided the day, with a combination of her own experience, trends and predications using the Razzamataz data and independent research on the future of education.

Day two: Highlights

From learning more about the creative opportunities in 2024 to panels with

former students to discover the impact that Razzamataz had on their lives, the day was packed with numerous highlights. The multi-unit franchisees offered insights about their unique journeys and how the flexibility of Razzamataz has enabled them to grow at their own pace and build multiple schools within their territory. Direct from Barbie land, Michael French franchisee of Razzamataz Barnet and ‘Mattel Executive’ in the iconic Barbie movie led our franchisees in a routine from this change-making film.

Day two: The Experts

Looking ahead to the next ten years, the team is working on the future strategy and mission statement with the help of mental health expert and coach Brian Costello. As a franchise that believes in the power of collaboration, Razzamataz will be consulting experts and its own franchise partners to create a vision that is aligned to the needs of the next generation of young people while meeting the needs of franchisees.

Day two: The Surprise

By inviting franchisees to step on board and come with us on a journey of creativity and self-discovery, it was fitting to offer an incredible opportunity to win a week’s accommodation and flights for two to a five-star resort in Gran Canaria. After a spin the wheel game, Jodie, Principal of Razzamataz Derby was announced as the lucky winner. Jodie is a former Razzamataz student and one of the youngest Principals in the network at just 22. She shows that age is no barrier to success and in less than a year, is already exceeding her targets.

Awards

Pip Wilkins, Chief Executive of the British Franchise Association (BFA) was the

special guest and presenter at this year’s Awards. On behalf of all the other judges, Pip announced the winners who showed why the Razzamataz community is so special, and the dedication and commitment displayed by all, which is a testament to the extraordinary impact Razzamataz has on the local communities.

Marc combines being a theatre school Principal with working as a professional actor, with recent achievements appearing on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent as part of a panto Dame ‘supergroup’. What a way to start the celebrations with Drag Bingo and a performance from Dame Dotty herself.

Day Three: Business Review

The final day was devoted to supporting individual franchisees on their own

journey, whether they are new to the network, planning to expand or even considering their own exit strategy. Led by Hayley, the day gave every attendee the tools, strategy and confidence they will need to achieve their goals.
