Young Entrepreneur Realises Dream Thanks to Financial Backing

“The level of support has been incredible. Even Denise, our Founder and MD, has been personally involved in supporting me. I genuinely feel like I have a whole team around me who want me to succeed.”

At just 23 years old, Abby Gains is proving that with passion, support, and a strong brand behind you, anything is possible. The newly trained Razzamataz franchisee is preparing to open Razzamataz Chesterfield this September, marking the start of her exciting entrepreneurial journey. Abby’s story is just one of many examples of how Razzamataz supports their people, even those without previous business experience, to launch their own successful schools, backed by award-winning training, mentorship, and ongoing support.

While studying for her degree in Theatre and Music, Abby worked in hospitality, retail, and as a Minis and Juniors teacher at Razzamataz Derby. Over 18 months, she witnessed first-hand the life-changing impact that Razzamataz had on young people. After teaching at the summer school and being part of the team creating the summer showcase, Abby realised her future was with Razzamataz and took the bold step to enquire about becoming a franchise owner herself. “It was only Razzamataz that I was truly passionate about,” says Abby. “Seeing the impact we had on children’s confidence and happiness made me realise that I wanted to continue doing this, but on a bigger scale. The difference you make is hard to put into words, it’s life-changing.”

Although new to business ownership, Abby has found Razzamataz’s proven franchise model, business mentoring and finance options invaluable. “The Finance Offer made it possible for me to join the network straight away, rather than delaying my dreams by a year or more,” explains Abby. “The level of support has been incredible. Sam, the Principal of Razzamataz Leighton Buzzard is my support mentor and she has been amazing. She’s been great at helping me to structure everything I need to do on a practical level but also on a more personal level, she’s helped when I felt a bit overwhelmed and motivated me when I’ve needed it. In addition, there is Matty and the entire Head Office team. Even Denise, our Founder and MD, has been personally involved in supporting me. I genuinely feel like I have a whole team
around me who want me to succeed.”

The power of the Razzamataz brand has also given Abby a head start. Thanks to a strong reputation established in neighbouring areas like Sheffield, Abby found that her new venue, Chesterfield College, was already familiar with the brand’s name and outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality performing arts education. Now deep into preparations for the school’s opening, Abby is recruiting energetic teachers who can inspire and connect with students and is busy organising a launch event that welcomes the whole family, offering taster sessions in dance, acting and singing, activities for younger siblings, and the opportunity to learn about the exciting additional opportunities Razzamataz students enjoy, from performing in the West End to working with industry professionals. “I want the launch day to be a fun and welcoming event for the whole family,” says Abby. “It’s really important to me that parents and carers feel confident and excited about the environment we’re creating, and that they feel completely comfortable sending their children to us each week.” At the heart of Abby’s mission is building confidence in young people as she adds: “Before university, I was very shy but studying theatre and music changed my life. Now I see the same transformations in the children I teach. Watching a student who once refused to say a line step into a lead role the following year is incredible. That’s the magic of Razzamataz.”

Abby is also looking forward to building strong links within her local community, exploring partnerships with businesses and charities to extend the reach and impact of Razzamataz Chesterfield. Ultimately, Abby’s story shows that when you join Razzamataz, you’re not just buying into a business you’re investing in a proven model that transforms lives, including your own.
