Dance your way to success!

Dance has been credited with a range of positive benefits. Recent studies found that it raises pain tolerance and makes us better friends.

Put music on and most people will start tapping their feet and even babies will react to it. It may be because when we exercise it releases the brain’s ‘happy chemicals’ because physical activity reduces stress and tension and regular dancing makes us feel great.

On a social level, dance is one of the best things to do to bond with friends. Studies have shown that belonging to a group where dance is a big part of the activities, leads to feelings of higher self-esteem and a positive outlook.

Professor Graham Welch, Chair of Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of London has studied the developmental and medical aspects of singing for 30 years. His work shows that singing has health and psychological benefits too.

Drama also has many positive benefits from giving students an emotional outlet through to enhanced communication skills and increased muscle memory, all valuable life skills that will help children whatever they go on to do.

At Razzamataz Weymouth, there is a strong focus on helping each and every child reach their full potential and being as successful as they can be.

“Parents may not realise it but there are so many more benefits than just learning to sing, dance and act at Razzamataz Weymouth,” says Principal Lauren Bill. “The children are discovering how to succeed by working as a team and learning the positive outcomes of hard work and not giving up. All these are so important for the development of happy and healthy individuals and we are proud at Razzamataz that we can be a part of that.”
