Razzamataz Theatre Schools is delighted to announce the winner of the Franchisee of the Year Award for 2010. Natalie James, who has four branches in Scotland located in Glasgow North/South, Paisley and Balfron was presented with her trophy during the company’s AGM in Carlisle on Sunday 6th March.
“We were delighted to present Natalie James with our 'Franchisee of The Year' Award for 2010 at our AGM,” said Razzamataz Founder and Director Denise Hutton-Gosney. “Natalie has shown wonderful commitment and dedication to the Razzamataz brand and despite continuing to perform as a professional singer, has managed to open up four very successful branches. Natalie has proved that even in this tough economical period, if you have the right brand, dedication and tenacity, you can succeed in business at any time.”
The Razzamataz Franchisee of the Year Awards were set up to highlight outstanding schools and principals and to reward individuals who have made an exceptional commitment to the Razzamataz brand. The judges looked for individual principals who excelled in many areas of the theatre school business including those who showed initiative in combating the effects of the general downturn, meeting deadlines in the creative and business side of the schools and maintaining a healthy turnover.
Commenting on her success Natalie said: "I am very honored and proud to have won this award and it has made all the hard work well worth it. Balancing my career as a singer and being a Razzamataz principal requires lots of dedication but with the support from Head Office and my staff I am delighted to be able to combine the two. I am now looking forward to building on this award and watching my students develop as performers and individuals."
Razzamataz Theatre Schools gained national prominence when Carlisle based entrepreneur Denise Hutton-Gosney appeared on Dragons’ Den in January 2007 and Duncan Bannatyne invested in the business. Since then the part-time theatre school has grown from strength to strength and has proved to be a very successful franchise operation. There are currently almost 40 Razzamataz Theatre Schools throughout the UK and with a dedicated team in Head Office there are ambitious plans for the future.
To become a Razzamataz principal it is not necessary to have a performing arts background or to have run a part-time theatre school previously because the Razzamataz team provide a fully comprehensive training week that will include how to find the most dynamic teachers to sorting the accounts and even health and safety issues.
In fact, the flexible career opportunity that Razzamataz offers makes it very appealing to mums such as Jodie Horton-Stanley, mum of Eden aged two, who launched her first Razzamataz to full capacity in September 2010 and has just been made New Franchisee 2010. “My Razzamataz Bristol North franchise has grown beyond my wildest expectations to more than 120 students in just one term,” said Horton-Stanley. “The comprehensive training package and continuing support means I never feel alone and there’s always someone at the end of the phone to answer my questions. It’s so rewarding seeing the students grow in confidence and skills and I can fit the work around my family commitments – perfect!”
As well as the theatre school franchise business, Razzamtaz have recently won a prestigious contract to supply performing arts teachers to a number of Haven’s flagship sites across the UK and overseas as well as offering Razz Minis for pre-school children in Center Parcs in Penrith, Cumbria. The continued support of Duncan Bannatyne had led to the creation of a family fitness service in Bannatynes Health Clubs called Razz Xpress, which offers classes of dance and drama that have been specifically tailored to fit within the clubs time frame and aim to boost the child’s confidence levels and social skills.
